Code of conduct

Initially formed as an informal collective during the 2022 festival season and re-established in 2024, reflect.awareness is committed to supporting and protecting marginalized communities and transforming social spaces.

We take an intersectional feminist approach and stand firmly against all forms of (sexualized) violence and discrimination.

Our work focuses on consulting, accompanying, and implementing processes related to social justice and awareness, especially in the context of (large-scale) events like festivals. In addition, reflect.awareness offers educational programs for organizations and awareness teams, and provides its own team to implement tailored awareness concepts at events.

reflect.awareness is firmly rooted in intersectional feminism. What unites us is the belief in the ability of communities to grow, reflect, and transform. This belief is grounded in the concept of transformative justice, which forms the ideological foundation of our work.
We reject the idea that excluding individuals from communities is enough to bring about change. True and lasting transformation requires a collective shift in mindset.

We advocate for care work to no longer be carried out by those affected in unpaid, exploitative conditions. For us, professionalizing care work is a political act. That’s why we are committed to establishing standards, ensuring fair pay, and providing thorough training.

We don’t view awareness work as a mere service. That’s why we prefer close collaboration with our clients. We believe that holistic, long-term awareness concepts are the only way to sustainably shape structures.

Note: We only partner with organizations that share our values.

The awareness organization reflect.awareness is made up of three full-time team members with extensive backgrounds in social justice, participation, awareness, inclusion, education, events, culture, and politics.

The team reflects a range of social positions, including: white, PoC, cis man, cis woman, straight, queer, academic, non-academic, and raised with limited financial means.

To date, the full-time team has trained over 250 freelance awareness workers who have been active at more than 50 events. These awareness workers maintain a loose affiliation with the organization.
