Awareness at the Skalar Festival 2025 at Helenesee
Festival-awareness, mediation, and discrimination prevention
From 5–8 June 2025, the Skalar Festival took place at Helenesee. This multi-day festival stands for music, community, and a consciously designed sense of togetherness. As reflect.awareness e.V., we accompanied the festival for the third time with our professional awareness team and were responsible for both the awareness concept and its implementation on-site.
Awareness concept and preparation
Throughout the year, we continuously developed the festival’s awareness concept together with the organizers. This concept includes preventive measures, clear responsibilities, and strategies for addressing discrimination, boundary violations, and violence. The goal was to structurally embed awareness into the festival’s workflow rather than treating it solely as a reactive measure.
Awareness team and mediation at the festival
During the festival, our awareness team was present on-site, visible and approachable. We attentively monitored festival activities, held conversations, supported affected individuals, and, when needed, took on meditative tasks. In fact, our team was on-site two weeks before the festival to assist with setup.
The perspectives of those affected were always at the center of our work.
Sustainable awareness structures
Our awareness work is grounded in an anti-sexist, anti-discriminatory, and power-critical stance. By accompanying the Skalar Festival continuously, we were able to further develop awareness structures, build trust, and initiate long-term learning processes. The festival demonstrates how sustainable awareness work can succeed in a festival context.
